Sometimes you want fresh homemade bread, but you don’t have hours to wait or fancy tools like a Dutch oven. That’s why this 4-ingredient bread recipe is perfect. It’s fast, simple, and soft, and you don’t need yeast at all.

The first time I tried it, I had only flour, baking powder, salt, and yogurt. I wasn’t sure it would work, but when I took the warm loaf out of the oven, it was soft, golden, and fluffy. Since then, it’s my go-to recipe when I want quick, fresh bread at home.


Why This Bread Works Without Yeast

This bread uses baking powder instead of yeast. Baking powder reacts with yogurt to make tiny air pockets, giving the bread a soft, fluffy texture. You can make it anytime you want bread quickly — no waiting, no complicated steps.

Ingredients (Just 4!)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup plain thick yogurt

Optional: brush the top with olive oil or melted butter for shine and extra flavor.

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Make sure they are combined well so the bread rises evenly.


Add Yogurt

Add yogurt slowly and stir gently until a sticky dough forms.

Tip: If the dough feels too dry, add a little more yogurt. If it is too wet, add a little flour.


Shape the Dough

Place the dough on a lightly floured surface. Gently shape it into a rectangle or oval. You don’t need to knead — just fold and pat it into shape.


Bake

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

Place the shaped dough on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the top is golden brown.

Optional: brush with olive oil or melted butter for a shiny crust.


Cool and Slice

Let the bread cool for 10–15 minutes before cutting. This makes it easier to slice and keeps the inside soft.

Serve warm with butter, jam, or use it for sandwiches.

  • Use thick yogurt for a softer loaf.

  • Don’t overmix — a few lumps are fine.

  • Add herbs like rosemary or garlic powder for extra flavor.

  • Brush with oil or butter for a golden top.


Storage

  • Keep in an airtight bag at room temperature for 2–3 days.

  • Freeze for up to 1 month. Slice and toast directly from frozen.
